The Best Books to Read This Spring, According to the New York Times
As we shift into a new season, we are also shifting into a new bout of great new releases, 24 of which the New York Times has rounded up. Some are returns to favorite, bestselling series, like Suzanne Collins’s Hunger Games; others are long-awaited returns to form, like Alison Bechdel’s latest graphic autofiction.
Overall, the list is fairly varied when it comes to genre, and while it does seem to lean towards very well-known authors, there are still a few debuts (like Tilt by Emma Pattee), and there’s even the last book Toni Morrison acquired as an editor in 1983 (Fish Tales by Nettie Jones).
Below is a sampling of the list:
The Buffalo Hunter Hunter by Stephen Graham Jones
Fish Tales by Nettie Jones
Sunrise on the Reaping by Suzanne Collins
Vanishing World by Sayaka Murata; translated by Ginny Tapley Takemori
Great Big Beautiful Life by Emily Henry
My Name Is Emilia del Valle by Isabel Allende; translated by Frances Riddle
The Emperor of Gladness by Ocean Vuong
Spent by Alison Bechdel
My Documents by Kevin Nguyen
Harmattan Season by Tochi Onyebuchi
Flirting Lessons by Jasmine Guillory
Tilt by Emma Pattee
