Riot Recommendation: Comedy & Satire

It could be that I’m coming down from a lot of travel (with more on the horizon soon), or that I’m currently trying to read a bunch of Serious Literature, or that having fewer hours of sunlight is making me want to take all the naps. Maybe it’s that I’ve been spent more time than I’d like to admit reading TV commentary and wondering why the internet has not yet produced a supercut of all the scenes of Walt Junior eating breakfast on Breaking Bad. Or maybe it’s my budding addiction to MTV’s “Catfish.” It’s anybody’s guess!

At any rate, my brain has been like a puppy running on a tile floor lately, and after picking up and promptly putting down several books in moments of “No, really, it’s not you; it’s me,” I think I’ve figured out what I need. I need to laugh. To chuckle. To chortle. To guffaw, even. I need some funny pages in my life. Some whimsy. Something as brilliant and hilarious as Steve Hely’s How I Became a Famous Novelist, or as timely and on-the-nose as Andrew Shaffer’s Fifty Shames of Earl Grey (which I did, in fact, read and love). I need a good giggle.
