Kickstart This: Your Dollars for Comics (June 11, 2015)
The comics crowdfunding world is large and difficult to keep track of; each week, we highlight a few fundraising projects that are worth your time, attention, and maybe your dollars!
Adam Nimoy, son of Leonard Nimoy, wants to make a documentary film about his father, who was extraordinary, and not just because he played Spock.
Recommended pledge: $35 gets you some digital goodies plus an early stream of the movie. (There are no options for a copy of the movie, unfortunately).
(2) Dirty Diamonds #6: Beauty (An all-girl comics anthology)
Yes, you read that right: an all-girl comics anthology, focused around the theme of beauty. Take my dollars. Take them all.
Recommended pledge: $30 gets you a hard copy of this comic, digital copies of all six volumes, and a set of postcards.
(3) A Dark Forest by Kate Mia White
Two sisters. A dark forest. Gorgeous, intricate black and white artwork.
SOLD.
Recommended pledge: £5 gets you a copy of the comic.
(4) Oeclair: A Fantastical Standalone Watercolor Comic
You had me at watercolor comic; I’m a sucker for those.
Recommended pledge: $20 gets you the printed, signed book, a digital copy, and a making-of video.
(5) Lubbock-Con
I’m usually a person who uses Kickstarter for tangible things, a method of pre-paying for things I would buy anyways rather than being in the mindset of supporting a thing. But in this case, I’m glad that another inclusive con exists, and I’m happy to spread the word to get them going.
Recommended pledge: $10 gets you a supporter button.
