Today we finally get a peek at what’s to come with the film adaptation of Alexandra Bracken’s popular YA book, The Darkest Minds! Our favourite characters are being brought to life by the likes of Amandla Stenberg, Harris Dickson, and Mandy Moore at the hands of director Jennifer Yuh Nelson.
In The Darkest Minds, a contagion sweeps across the planet killing most of the world’s children. Those that survive are left with special abilities and the world fears them and their power. The government says they are a threat and rounds up the kids, sending them to camps to “rehabilitate” them.
Ruby’s (Amandla Stenberg) powers are dangerous. She’s labeled an orange, someone with powers to control the mind. When this is discovered, it puts her in danger. She escapes the camp and goes on the run with other kids trying to find someplace safe.
The movie comes out August 3rd, and I can’t wait to see it. It looks absolutely amazing. But don’t take my word for it. Check out The Darkest Minds trailer for yourself!
