I finally watched Barbie, and it left me feeling appreciative of the great movies and television out now and in recent years. Seriously, I can’t remember the last time I had such a wealth of shows to look forward to and recommend. While thinking about my recent viewing, I realized a lot of my faves matched up with my reading habits. And so this list of TV and movie recs based on bookish interests was created.

A few notes:

  1. This is not an exhaustive list of excellent series or movies or reading habits—this is a list of recommendations based on some of what I’ve watched, loved, and realized could be matched with a bookish interest.
  2. The SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes are still active, and I, like so many others, am holding on to the hope that the professionals who give life to movies, series, and more get fair compensation, credit, and treatment.
  3. No, Barbie is not mentioned here. I thought the film was fabulous, and America Ferrera’s feminist monologue was :chef’s kiss:, but everyone everywhere has talked it up, so I didn’t feel the need. But if you need more of that “life in plastic” content, please enjoy this post on “Barbie, Books, and Publishing for Young Readers.”
