Kickstart This: Your Dollars for Comics (May 28, 2015)
The comics crowdfunding world is large and difficult to keep track of; each week, we highlight a few fundraising projects that are worth your time, attention, and maybe your dollars!
The popular comic series Atomic Robo is out of print, and this Kickstarter aims to rectify that problem.
Recommended pledge: $170 gets you a whole boatload of PDFs, plus all nine volumes in hardcover. (It may seem steep, but at $190 off cover price…not so bad, if you want to own all the volumes)
If you just want a taste of Atomic Robo, $20 gets you one random hardcover plus a DRM-free PDF.
(2) Ctrl+Alt+Del 1.0: The Box Set
The Ctrl+Alt+Del 1.0 Box Set houses the entire first ten years of the comic. Everything from the first strip in 2002 to the end of the original Ethan and Lucas story arc in 2012.
Recommended pledge: For $80, you get the entire three-book box set plus a bookplate. It’s pretty gorgeous.
Oh Joy Sex Toy (OJST) is a weekly webcomic by Erika Moen and Matthew Nolan that debuted April 2013 and has updated every Tuesday since. It covers reviews of everything that relates to sex, sexuality, and the sex industry. From sex toy reviews to sex education to interviews with sex industry professionals and more! With the aid of curated guest comics, OJST strives to be relevant to all different genders, body types, and sexualities
Recommended pledge: $20 gets you PDFs of Volumes 1 and 2.
(4) Carbon Dating: A Hardcover Volume
A comic where science and romance collide in the best possible way. In addition to 145 recolored Carbon Dating comic strips, this book is also intended as a primer to many topics in the public understanding of science.
Recommended pledge: $20 snags you a copy of the limited-edition hardcover.
(5) The Adventures of Joe Nemo!
