Kickstart This: The Secret Loves of Geek Girls
The comics crowdfunding world is large and difficult to keep track of; each week, we highlight a few fundraising projects that are worth your time, attention, and maybe your dollars!
(1) The Secret Loves of Geek Girls
The Secret Loves of Geek Girls is an anthology full of true stories about love and sex, the stories women tell each other, but don’t usually write down. It’s a prose/comics anthology; it’s got stories in both formats, from all female creators. The names involved with this project are awesome: Panels favorites Margaret Atwood, Mariko Tamaki, Kate Leth, Sam Maggs, and more. Basically TAKE ALL MY MONEY.
Recommended pledge: $30 USD ($37 CAD) gets you a print copy and digital copy of the comic, shipped to the United States.
Reach is three separate, standalone stories set in three different time periods. On their own, each is a narrative about pursuing mythical treasure. Combined? They form an overarching story about the consequences of overreaching. It sounds great, and the time periods (the Crusades, the samurai of the Sengoku period, and the America West) sound like interesting settings.
Recommended pledge: $24 gets you the trade paperback and a PDF.
A full-color 44-page graphic novel about a father-daughter road trip to Vegas to see Tom Jones play a show in Vegas. Count me in.
Recommended pledge: $20 gets you an autographed copy of the book, plus a PDF.
